What Game On Achieved

From GameChangers to Game On

Game On was created through GameChangers: Play, Learn and Innovate, an Erasmus+ partnership between Projekta Malta and Veronika Liotard in Czechia. The project brought together board games, creativity, AI and international learning to develop skills, create new resources and explore different ways of learning through play.

The Idea Behind the Project

What We Set Out to Do

GameChangers combined learning through play with creativity, technology and international exchange, giving young people opportunities to develop useful skills through practical, hands-on experiences.

01

Learn through play

Use board games as practical tools for learning, interaction and youth work.

02

Think & create

Practise creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on activities.

03

Explore AI

Discover how AI and digital tools can support ideas, design and creative work.

04

Turn ideas into action

Connect game creation with initiative, entrepreneurship and experimentation.

05

Connect across Europe

Learn collaboratively across Malta and Czechia while exploring Erasmus+ opportunities.

The Game On Journey

From Playing Games to Creating Something That Lasts

GameChangers developed step by step — from exploring learning through games to creating shared resources, international learning experiences and new game ideas. These milestones highlight some of the key moments along the way.

Making Board Games More Accessible

Both partners developed board-game sharing models adapted to their local communities. In Malta, the Game On Games Library became a shared resource for organisations working with young people, while the Czech team circulated rotating game sets through schools, libraries and community spaces.

From Players to Game Creators

Young people explored game design, creativity and critical thinking while discovering how AI and digital tools could support ideas, mechanics, visuals and prototypes.

Creating Games of Our Own

Participants in both countries developed, tested and improved their own game ideas. In Malta, the PlayQuest participants created Erasmus Unleashed, while the Czech team developed the separate ErasmusVentures prototype.

Entrepreneurship in Practice

Could This Work in Malta?

PlayQuest participants did more than experience game-based businesses and activities in Czechia. After each experience, they looked at the idea through an entrepreneurial lens — considering its social value, the community needs it could address, whether it could work in another country and how the concept might need to change.

Maltese participants assessed the social-enterprise potential of selected experiences, while Maltese and Czech participants proposed adaptations, improvements and ways that game-based ideas could create greater social impact.

3.50 / 5 Albi
3.10 / 5 The Grail

The exercise was not about deciding which Czech businesses should simply be copied in Malta. Participants identified what made each idea valuable, considered real local barriers and proposed ways the concepts could be adapted to address needs such as social isolation, excessive screen time, skills development, inclusion, cultural learning and opportunities for young people.

Ratings show Maltese participants' perceptions of each concept's potential as a social enterprise in Malta after experiencing the activity. They are learning and reflection results, not formal commercial feasibility studies.

GameChangers: Play, Learn and Innovate

Game On grew out of an Erasmus+ partnership exploring how board games, creativity, AI and international learning can create engaging opportunities for young people. The funded activities have finished, while GameOn.mt continues as a learning resource built on what the project created and learnt.
